YAKIMOWICH, Muriel Patricia

Muriel Patricia Yakimowich (nee Allen)

May 29, 1933 – May 20, 2021

It is with profound sadness and sense of loss that the family announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sister in law, aunt and great aunt, nine days shy of her 88th birthday. Muriel faced her many health challenges in recent years with immense courage and dignity. Muriel will be sadly missed by her three sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews in Canada and in the United Kingdom, as well as many friends.

Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband, William (Bill), parents, John and Margaret, mother in law, Mary, sisters, Jean and Maureen, brothers in law, Jack, Billy and Mike, nephew Stephen, niece Aileen, and many other special relatives and friends.

Muriel was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and enjoyed reminiscing about happy memories of her childhood and early adult years spent there. As a young woman, she enjoyed ice skating, travel, poetry, opera, dance and her time as a chorus girl, in particular. She was very grateful for the opportunity to immigrate to Canada in the early 60’s. She was especially happy when she met her husband, Bill, and when they moved to their farm in Two Hills. She embraced farm life, learning to cook Ukrainian cuisine, canning and other local traditions. She made many special friends over the years.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent and compassionate care that Muriel received at both the Two Hills and Onoway senior lodges and more recently by the doctors and nurses at the Sturgeon Community Hospital, St. Albert, Alberta.

If family or friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted at the Hillside Senior Citizen’s Lodge, Two Hills, Alberta or the Chateau Lac Ste. Anne, Onoway, Alberta.

We believe in the communion of saints.

Due to covid restrictions cremation will take place after a private service.
