David Charles Woods passed away at age 65 in the University of Hospital in Edmonton, AB on October 18, 2020. He suffered a fatal stroke as a result of complications from open heart surgery on August 4.
His brother Allan and sister-in-law Pam were thankful that hospital staff allowed them to be at David’s bedside during these trying times of Covid restrictions. David passed away peacefully without pain and suffering.
He was born November 4, 1954 to Robert Edward Woods and Norma Marie Lockwood, in Calgary AB.
Later when the family moved to Edmonton, he graduated Grade 12 from Harry Ainlay High School in 1972.
David worked most of his life as a welder. He started his apprenticeship under Allan while working together at their father’s pipeline construction company in the 1970’s.
Following that he worked for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 488 at various job sites throughout the province. He retired in 2016 after the Fort McMurray fire.
David was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Tom and Doug, and his sisters Karen and Patty.
He is survived by his brothers Allan and Michael and his sister Cindy and also his stepmother Ethel and step sister Carol. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
