Our precious mom, Carole, passed away at 85 years of age following a brief hospitalization due to a stroke. Mom was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, nursing colleague and friend who touched the lives of so many in such a positive way. Everyone who knew Mom speaks fondly about her positive, joyful, and loving personality.
Mom is survived by her husband of 64 years, Peter, who was most definitely the love of her life. She was pre-deceased in 2014 by her daughter Carole. Together mom and dad raised 5 children: Carole (Cyril), Kathy (Ron), Peter (Colleen), Terry (Janine) and Jeanette (Doug). Mom was also the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren, Alison, Graham, Nicole, Noelle, Dominique, Andrew, Blair, Ben, Bryn, and Megan. Mom was also loved deeply by six great grandchildren, Lily, Poppy, Molly, Oliver, Colby, and Claire. Mom and Dad were married in 1958 and were a two-part epoxy- ultimately the glue that has held the family together so closely over the years. Family and friends meant the world to Mom. Mom was unapologetically proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mom nursed for many years, primarily in the operating rooms at the Misericordia Hospital. There she was a consummate professional and built many friendships with nurses and doctors. There were many gatherings at the farm with this group of friends- some of them legendary!
Mom loved the massive family holiday gatherings at the farm. She always had Dad go out and find the biggest turkey available to feed everyone. Dad would inevitably purchase a turkey from a Hutterite Colony since they were the only growers of 40lb plus turkeys! Over the years Mom and Dad spent the cold winter months in Europe and then in California. Ultimately their favourite place became Palm Springs, particularly because their daughter and son-in-law, Carole, and Cyril, enjoyed a home there. Mom loved the fact that all of us kids would visit them in the United States, she loved the warm weather and while there devoted countless hours to painting and scrapbooking. We have all benefitted from her beautiful scrapbooks and we will continue to cherish them for many years to come.
A celebration of our beautiful mom’s life will be held at the Clymont Hall www.clymont.com for directions, casual dress) on Monday April 25th, 2pm to 5pm, preceded by a private interment. Presentations will occur at 3:00pm sharp. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
