Wesley Gordon Gates

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wes Gates….husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  Wes was born May 19, 1938 in Claresholm, AB and grew up on a farm west of Stavely.  He lived in Calgary, Fort Saskatchewan and Baton Rouge LA.

After retirement he settled in Fort Saskatchewan.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Marjorie, brothers Clark and Gary.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years Helen, his son Todd (Nadia) and their children Meghan, Peter (Kelsi), son Troy (Teresa) and their children Braden, Marlee (Matthew) and great- granddaughter Anne, daughter Cara (Richard).  He is also survived by his brother Dorlan and numerous nieces and nephews.  Wes was a very generous and kind-hearted man and we will miss him very much.  At his request, there will be no funeral.

We will have a private family celebration of life to honour him. Flowers graciously declined.

If desired, donations can be made in his memory to the Diabetes Foundation or the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Foundation.
