It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Wayne Eaker at the age of 68 on September 23, 2013.
Wayne was born in Owatonna, MN and grew up on a farm near Hayfield, MN. After High School he moved to New York City working with Volunteers in Service to America while attending school there. In 1967 he married Tanis Potvin of Rochester, MN. From 1967 – 1971 he worked on Wall Street before returning to Minnesota to farm until 1974 when he and his young family immigrated to Canada, spending 2 years in Yellowknife working with NWT Corrections. The rest of his working life he worked as an Employment Counselor and Life Skills Coach in Ft. Chipewyan and High Prairie, Alberta until 1999.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Tanis; children: Lyne Eaker (Peggy), Dawn Ross, and Ti Eaker (Krysta); grandchildren: Tamara, Meghan, Darien, Aldrin, Crystal and Aidan; and extra grandchild Helayna; two sisters: Ardell Brenner and Doris Sunheim; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a child, a brother-in-law and two nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church, 10740 19 Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories (http://www.alzheimer.ab.ca/).
