Watt, John Ronald


On June 4, 2016, John Watt of Thorsby, born in Prairie River, SK, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He was 73 years old.

John is survived by his loving wife Pat; children Penny (Wayne) and Bobby, grandchildren Katelyne, McKenzie, Montana, James, Emma, Emmalee, Claire, Alyssa and Zachary; extended family Tracy (Sheryl) and Robb (Pam); sister Edna Beecher; brothers Gordon (Lou), Bill (Elaine), Macky, and Jerry; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by parents Jack and Signe, brother Don, sisters Marjorie and Marion, and grandson Travis.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thorsby Community Centre, 4813 – 49 Street, Thorsby, AB, followed by lunch and fellowship.  A private interment will take place.

Special thanks to Dr. Alister Waugh, as well as health professionals at the Cross Cancer Institute, Thorsby Health Unit and Leduc General Hospital for providing such great care for John in his final days.

I have many fond memories of John and his hearty laugh. I missed him when he retired from Weyerhaeuser. Many stories were shared and laughs were had in the break room there at the mill. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace John.
