Wanda Joy Loyie passed away suddenly at her home in Edmonton, Alberta on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the tender age of 52 years.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Wanda leaves her legacy behind in her four children: her son Steffen Loyie, and daughters; Cassandra, Serena and Alicea Jeffrey-Loyie. She is survived by her sister: Brenda Loyie, mother and father; Linda and Andrew Loyie, and long-time partner Barry Jeffrey. She is also survived by many other family and friends. We take great comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and has moved on to a better place where she is undoubtedly back in fine form, talking the ears off all our waiting family and friends who have passed on before her.
Wanda always searched for ways to better herself, and held multiple certificates from post-secondary education. She graduated from the Modern Office Specialist Training at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technologies (N.A.I.T) in 1998. She would later go on to complete several other courses and diplomas at various universities such as; the University of Alberta in the Extension of Technologies Training Centre, the Career College in the Continuing Education Heath and Medical Extension program, and the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Woman in the Financial Program. She worked in many sectors of industry, government and non-profit organizations, making friends everywhere she went. Wanda was kind and open with her love and compassion, and was willing to engage with anyone no matter the circumstance. She helped many people pick themselves up, and the impact she had on everyone she met cannot be measured, each and every one of them having probably shared ‘Wanda Stories”. She will be loved and missed by many.
A celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at Serenity Funeral Service North Chapel, 10129 – Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton on July 19, 2019, at 2:00 pm. Following the service, there will be a potluck dinner and we encourage her friends and family to come and bring pictures (and stories) of Wanda to share. The family would like to thank Serenity Funeral Services in Edmonton for their respectful handling of Wanda and for supporting the family through this difficult time. We would also like to greatly thank Father James Holland for servicing the funeral for the family.
