Do not cry, be happy you knew me.

WALTER TOMASZEWSKI (THOMAS)

Walter was a quiet humble man who worked diligently to serve his community. He was known for his dedication to the City of Fort Saskatchewan, his 70 years of service with the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department, giving him the honour of Canada’s longest serving volunteer firefighter, naming of the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department Walter Thomas Station, 70 years active service with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 27 and active member of the Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.

He was an outstanding husband to Alice; father to Maben, (David), Lorence (Theresa), Michael, Margaret (Don), Wanda, Annette, John (Sophie); grandfather to Rory, Tara, Ian, Neil, (Stephanie), Kris (Jenn), Jason (Mindy), Brianne, Devon (Emma), Ryan and great grandfather to Austin, Spencer, Ethan, Hayden, Kendall and Avery.

Walter worked tirelessly to the end for his wife Alice.  It was their dream to live out their final years together at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans. Walter left knowing that Alice will complete their dream.

We are saddened by our loss but so thankful to have had him for so long. Sleep well Walter, you are in the hands of your Lord and Saviour.
