Melvin Vogel of Leduc, AB passed away at the age of 89 years. Melvin was born in Wetaskiwin, AB on November 8, 1931. He grew up in the Berrymoor district where he took his schooling through grade nine in Berrymoor’s one-room schoolhouse. For high school, he attended Tomahawk High School where he lived in the dorm and later batched. After high school he attended S.A.I.T. in Calgary, AB to become a radio operator and worked in Edson, AB for the forestry service. Melvin then studied weather observation at Edmonton’s Industrial Airport. After this he worked as a radio operator for the Ministry of Transport in Grande Prairie AB, Smith River BC, Penhold AB, Beaton River BC and lastly at the Edmonton International Airport.
Melvin will be remembered by his brother Allen of Drayton Valley, AB, his sister Una of Leduc, AB, friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Rose.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church., 5012 – 51 Avenue, Leduc, AB. Interment has taken place in Leduc City Cemetery.
