Vion, Alice Rosenne

It is with sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Alice, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Alice was a wonderful person, leaving behind a legacy of standing by your convictions and always looking on the sunny side of life. She was a hard-working farm woman and her husband’s right-hand-man. Together they built and maintained a successful and prosperous farm on their property just south of Fort Saskatchewan. Alice was also an LPN at Rivercrest Nursing Home, where she enjoyed assisting the residents under her care.

She liked to cook and bake, especially at Christmas time, when she would present a feast of cakes, cookies and squares. She loved having family and friends around for meals and welcomed anyone who dropped in for a visit or a chat. Alice had a wonderful sense of humor and especially enjoyed sharing a good joke and laugh. She spent her spare time tending to a plentiful vegetable and flower garden, along with quilting and volunteering in the community.

Her grand boys were the apples of her eye, and they are left with many good memories of their Nan. Much to their delight, Alice was always eager to join in with some of the boys’ favourite meals, hobbies and family vacations proudly proclaiming that she would try anything once!

Alice will be missed by her family – Donna (Neil) Johnston of New Orleans, Louisiana,
Keith (Debi) Vion of Sherwood Park; grand boys Justin Vion (Daniella) of Edmonton, Gregory (Sole) Johnston of Montgomery, Alabama, Elliott Vion (Craig) of Vancouver, BC; and her only sister Dorothy (Ray) Geislinger of Fort Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, August and son, Wayne.

The family would like to personally thank Dr. Paul Kivi, Alana Posteraro and all the wonderful staff at Devonshire Village, whose care Alice appreciated so much.

At Mom’s request a private service will be held at an upcoming date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Edmonton Humane Society or to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta.

Tribute wall - a place to share your memories and condolences

Jeanne Reynolds

Dear Keith and Donna, Norm and I send our deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom. She was always such a special part of our lives when we were growing up. Your Dad and both of you always seemed to be part of our family. Unfortunately Norm and I were not able to attend her farewell service. Lois tells me that it was beautifully done. Please pass on our sympathy and warmest wishes to Neil and Debi. I am sure they will miss her as you will. With love and sympathy. Jeanne
