It is with shattered hearts and much love that we say goodbye to Paul Villeneuve who passed away August 10, 2021 at the age of 59.

Paul will be forever loved and missed by his wife Cindy, father Louis Villeneuve; sister Susan (Brian) Cardy; brother Norman (Claudia) Villeneuve; Mother in Law Shirley Maskoskie; brother in laws Darcy (Sherry) and Perry (Kyla) Maskoskie along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Paul is predeceased by his Mom Irene Villeneuve, Father in Law Larry Maskoskie as well as his grandparents and numerous other family.

Paul lived a life of adventure and travel. He loved to drag race and attend drag race events especially the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield. The Puerto Vallarta area and anywhere in California were his favourite places to visit. He also enjoyed camping and exploring in Alberta.

He loved life and enjoyed it fully.

Paul was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2017 and began dialysis in June of 2018. Although it limited what he could do physically he enjoyed spending time in the garage working on project vehicles with his good friend Gord and made a new family with the nurses on unit 5B1. Paul was on the kidney transplant list and dreamed of future adventures with Cindy when his big, beautiful heart stopped beating.

We would like to thank the nurses on 5B1 at the U of A Hospital – the dialysis unit – for all of their love, care and support. Your kindness and care made a difficult treatment bearable. We would also like to thank Dr Marg Polushin, our family doctor, for not only providing quality healthcare but for the caring way you connected with us. Finally we would like to thank the paramedic team and the U of A Emergency Room doctors and nurses for all of their efforts and for the kindness extended at the hospital. Your job is not easy but you showed grace and compassion under a difficult circumstance.

Paul’s final wishes are for a private service to be held. If so desired, memorial donations in Paul’s name may be made directly to the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation – UNIT 5B1. In addition, please consider becoming a blood donor and signing an organ donation card.

He will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him.

I did not have the honor of meeting Paul, however through the love and devotion of the amazing stories shared by the love of his life Cindy, allowed me to know what an amazing human he was. How he lived his life strong and proud and with joy in his heart.

He will be missed by those who loved him best and by those like myself who love those that he loved. Cindy, you are in my heart always.

I reflect upon many fond memories of our adventures together after High School. Young kids on our first big road trip to Napa in 1984 and numerous adventures after that. Paul always wanted to try new things, never too shy to experiment.

He had a passion for fast cars, and any thing that had a motor.

You are missed, my friend. Thank you for all the fun times and excitment .
