It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vera Kassy Drobot, of Edmonton, at the age of 65 years. Vera is survived by her loving brother, Walter (Ann), nephews, Alan and Brian, special cousin Willy (Helen), and their children, Evan, Amy and Ashley. Vera also leaves to mourn her loss other extended family near and far and many dear friends.
Vera was born in and lived her entire life in Edmonton. She was a passionate community volunteer and savvy business woman. As a long time landlord, she got to know and became friends with many of her tenants. Vera was especially proud of her Ukrainian heritage and had many fond memories of her days dancing with Cheremosh. Vera was an avid collector and lover of “all things Chickadee”. She always enjoyed a good game of crib and even enjoyed a few rounds during her last days. Vera was taken from us far too young and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial service Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street, with Father Peter Babej officiating. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
