Vaunda Ferne Cecelia Bigney

Vaunda Ferne Cecelia Bigney (nee Murphy)

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Vaunda Bigney, who passed away on October 25, 2015, at the age of 78.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters: Bev Haugh, Barb (Robin) Abday and Kim (David) Robinson; eight grandchildren Karlene (Eric), Sherilyn (Spencer), Laura (Stefan), Jennifer (Andrew), Theresa (Robbie), Chelsea, Andrew (Mallory) and Courteney (Myles). She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Greta (Gary) Stead of Chipman.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of 4-Parker at Lynnwood Care Centre for their kindness, support and care they gave our mum during her time there.

Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta in Vaunda’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

I have been thinking about your Mom lately and I couldn’t get her off of my mind. Now I know why! I just felt the need to look up your Mom on the internet tonight. And then I found her here. You may not know this but when I first moved to Edmonton, your Mom was so kind and so very helpful to me. I used to work with your Mom. After she retired, I used to meet her for lunch (at the Denny’s). She was so funny and I cherished our lunches! We used to laugh and laugh and laugh!! One of you may remember me because I tracked you down through your church to re-connect with your Mom when she moved! We used to joke that we were related because of the mutual surname.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Your Mom was a great person!

I loved Vaunda so much. She was like a sister. We were friends. She always made me laugh. A great sense of humour. I will miss her dearly.
