VANDERWOLF, Benjamin Harley

With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic passing of Benjamin Vanderwolf of Devon, Alberta on Oct. 12, 2021 at the age of 21 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mom, Leanne(Craig) Hodgman and dad Johnny (Elona) Vanderwolf, sisters Emma Hodgman and Samantha Vanderwolf.

Ben was loved by so many. Adored by proud grandparents Marilyn Ward, Paul Hodgman, Linda Boisvert, Blaine Lesko, Shirley Lesko and Case Vanderwolf. He will forever be loved and remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Kastelic, Hodgman, Vanderwolf and Lesko families. Ben touched a lot of lives and will be missed dearly by his friends.

Ben is pre-deceased by his grandparents Albert and Audrey Kastelic and Gerrit and Anne Vanderwolf.

Central to Ben’s life was his family and friends. He loved hard, was trusted and loyal.

Ben was an avid outdoorsman and gravitated toward life in the country. He loved riding horses, camping, hunting, fishing and time around a camp fire. Ben was most comfortable in his wranglers, Carhartts and boots. He had a genuine curiosity in how things work and was skilled at building and fixing whatever he put his mind to. He discovered a passion for carpentry and was working towards his journeyman ticket. From a young age, Ben loved music. He enjoyed listening to and playing many genres, on his guitar and trombone. Ben was a loyal friend, loved to help others and was respected by all who had the honor of knowing him. He was a gentle soul who gave the best hugs and lived his best life.

Gone far too young, Ben will live on in our hearts forever.

A private family service will be held on Wednesday October 27th at 1pm. Service will be live streamed.  View at: https://vimeo.com/638294635/1b9387211c

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you remember and celebrate your precious Ben. I didn’t know Ben personally but he sounds like an amazing young man who loved his family and friends deeply and was deeply loved by all of you.

My heart is broken and I can’t even imagine how much Ben’s families hearts are aching at this most difficult time.

We miss Ben, as he has always been a part of our story. I will always remember Ben learning guitar riffs from Bill, playing guitar and fixing trucks. Showing my son James how to shoot paintball guns more effectively- such a great person with a big heart.

May we speak of him often, may we be grateful that he touched our lives and hearts while he was with us.

As we speak of him, may the fond memories bring smiles to our lips and those smiles help to heal our hearts.

Ben, Though your time with us was cut short, we know you are always with us when we speak your name. Rest now, find peace and ride the most beautiful horses anywhere you like.

Barrie and Laura Young

We knew Ben through our children Brandon and Danica. They went to school and they were all in band together. When we think of Ben we think the small town kid. He would stop and help anyone out, a friend to all. You could always hear when Ben was coming to visit long before he pulled up. Will miss this sound and his smile. Please accept our deepest condolences our hearts break. The Young family

Ben was a young gentleman we were proud to know.
His gentle soul touched so many hearts.
We were privileged to have him touch our lives.
Helping family and friends was a great pleasure for him.
Always a smile and no messy job was to big for him, he just kept pitching in.
As he sat around after a days work he was off to spend time with the families important to him. You will be missed and forever in a corner of so many hearts.

Debbie Martin

I’m so sorry for your loss my prayers and thought are with you and the family condolences.
