Leonard Vandermeer, of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, passed away in the early morning of March 24, 2022 at the age of 75. He was in the expert care of doctors and nurses at the Royal Alexandra in Edmonton, for complications due to pneumonia; with recent visits from his son. No one expected his hospital visit to end in his passing, and we are shocked and saddened to have to deliver this news of his unexpected passing.

He will be fondly remembered by his friends and family, his company will be missed dearly, along with his sense of humor, and love for his son (Quinn), daughter in law (Natasha), grandchildren (Brayden, Damon, and Kelsea), and former spouse (Veronika).

Len was predeceased by his parents, Hille & Jeltje van der Meer of Leeuwarden, Netherlands, and his sister Doety, also from the Netherlands.

Len was born and raised in Leeuwarden, Netherland. He immigrated and became a Canadian Citizen in his early 20’s, where he would eventually settle in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, for his many remaining years. There he would meet and befriend his neighbors, and close friends Stan & Gerri Bryant, Randy & Lynn Ballance, and many others from around the neighborhood. Never one to miss an opportunity for a good laugh, good drink, and good company, he would share many late nights with his close friends. After his grandchildren were born, “Old Grampy” would also never miss an opportunity to spoil his kids; always ensuring they were well taken care of.

Due to COVID and general health considerations, service will be private, for close friends and family. Thank you for your understanding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Edmonton or Autism Alberta in Len’s memory.
