It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Gysbertus Tabak at 69 years of age after struggling for many years with his health.
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Joan (Fishburne), his mother Corrie Tabak and siblings Mary (Cornelis), Conrad, Rolly (George), Marten (Jan), Harold (Maria), Diane (Larry), Alan and families. Also, Joan’s siblings and families: Ron (Elaine), Doris, Audrey, Nancy, Fred (Cheryl), Helen (Henry), and extended family in Holland who always supported him.
Predeceased by his father John Tabak, sister Corrie Hancock and Barry, and special in-laws Don, John, Lil and Neil.
John was born in Orangeville Ontario to new immigrant parents from Holland.
His first language was Dutch and he was always proud of his Dutch heritage. They moved to Alberta and he grew up in Edmonton,
Joan and John met at a friend’s wedding and married March 6th, 1976. John was driving ETS bus at the time.
John’s interests included traveling, photography, clothes, cooking, camping, and fishing. He loved country music and a dog in the house. He was always up for conversation and loved meeting new people. He will be missed by many as he was a generous and loving man.
Thank you to Millwoods Shepherd’s Care for the excellent care for his last 3 ½ years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on Saturday December 4th at 1:00 pm at Ottewell United Church, 6611- 93A Ave Edmonton (entrance thru the back door)
As per Alberta COVID Restriction Exemption program, proof of vaccination and masks are required.
