It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Suzanne Marie-Louise Prefontaine-Iu (nee Prefontaine) of Sherbrooke, Quebec at the age of 64. She passed December 28th surrounded by family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Suzanne is lovingly remembered by daughters Melanie (Gary Hoyano) and Jennifer (Harry Wojdak), their father Stephen Iu (Irene Cheah), brother Marc, and grandchildren Lucie and Felix.
Suzanne is predeceased by her mother and father (Charlotte Olivier and Jean R. Prefontaine), brother Dave, godson David, and beloved godmother Louise Allard.
Suzanne lived her life cherishing each moment. She had an innate ability to connect with children of all ages which drew her to her profession as an early childhood educator. She treasured the simple things in life: coffee dates, children and family. Above all, she taught many how to live life with laughter and positivity during even the hardest times.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the Cross Cancer Institute and the staff of the Grey Nuns Hospital palliative care unit for the loving care they provided during her illness.
A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at the Woodvale Facility and Golf Clubhouse, located on the Millwoods Golf Course, 4540 – 50 Street NW, Edmonton on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Society.
