Our mother Colette Mary Slavik was an astute, free-spirited, fun-loving, super organized, feisty firecracker.  She was a strong, fiercely independent woman who once flew across the ocean by herself with four children, two in diapers at the time.  Her strength of character was the backbone of a military family who made 10 major moves in 20 years including two overseas to Germany.  Thankfully Colette was very healthy throughout her life and passed away peacefully after a sudden, but brief illness.  Colette was predeceased by her husband Bob, mother Catherine, father Ambrose, brothers Adolph, Delmond, Verner, Goar and sister Gwen.  She is survived by her son Bradley (Gail), son Wesley, son Steven and daughter Maria (Eric) and her grandchildren Hayley, Cameron, Raya, Kirsten, Meredith, Peter, Andra and Joel.  A Celebration of Life will take place sometime in the future, when it is safe to do so.

Tribute wall - a place to share your memories and condolences

Greg Lamb

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the recent passing of your mother.

As an “Armed Forces Brat” ,frequently living at great distance from his relatives, your parents were most gracious in allowing us to become a part of their lives.

We were able to share many memorable meals and golf games from destinations as varied as Germany and Arizona.

Collete’s laughter and great sense of humour will be missed. We were lucky to have enjoyed the friendship of your family.

Take Care

Jean Doty

I am writing this tribute on behalf of my mother Jean Doty. Mom & Colette became good friends during their time at Lifestyle Options in Leduc. Mom often spoke of their shared sense of humour & many laughs as they enjoyed sitting together at lunch time over the years & their suites were only a few doors apart. Mom has been a resident of Lifestyle since 2013 & now at age 93 remarks often “I sure miss Colette” RIP dear lady, you have touched the lives of many people right up to the end of your days!

Wes, Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your Mom. Thinking of you and your family during this very difficult time.

Wesley Coleman

From the Coleman family we send you all warm, heartfelt condolences and wishing you all the very best during this difficult time.
We had so many family get togethers over the 1960s and 1970s. Lots of amazing memories with such great people. Your mother was so full of life and enjoyed every minute to the fullest. My parents, Lyman and Wineita, considered Colette and Bob two of their best friends.
Bless you all and hopefully someday our paths meet again.

Love the Coleman’s.

Theresa Slavik

Auntie Colette was a true firecracker. She always called it as she saw it, and we loved her for this. To my cousins Brad, Wes, Maria and Stevie and their families, my sincerest condolences on the loss of this remarkable lady. May she rest in peace.
