SERRE, Sasha James

It is with broken hearts that the family of Sasha James Serre announce his passing in a tragic accident on April 8th, 2022 at the age of 39 years.

He is survived by his girlfriend Mandy, mother Shirley (Wayne),and brother Nathan (Dana). He is also survived by his beloved nieces Riley and Scarlett, great niece Kriscilla, as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father James and brother Daniel.

Sasha spent his first years in Beaumont and Edmonton. At the age of twelve he came to live with his aunt and uncle Joyce and Brian Johnson in Beaumont. He spent his teen years there and was known for being a friend to everyone. He was a good Samaritan always happy to lend a hand, especially to those experiencing hardship or distress.

Sasha was a compassionate, funny, outgoing, and creative man. He was a Red Seal Cabinet Maker and many establishments around Edmonton have benefitted from his work. Although he loved the creative part of his profession, his passion was firefighting. As he said in a media interview: “I’ve wanted to get into fire fighting for close to 10 years now,” says cabinet maker Sasha Serre, 34. “Every year I see the fires happening in Alberta and it just eats away at me, you know. You just want to be out there and you just want to be helping out with the guys.”

An indigenous Celebration of Life will be held on May 14 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 7344 239 Street NW, Enoch, AB.

Sasha will be interred in Clearwater Cemetery, Beaumont with his beloved grandmother, Marie Carlson.

Sasha n I known each other for over 20 years. He went to school with my sister, I was more of the kid sister of the group. Last summer I reconnected n got to know him. Our special times we had I’ll never forget. Who can say they flew a kite, not once but twice, off the high level bridge. I use to look for him cause he would be hard to reach. Now when I go out to collect bottles, I know I won’t be able to find u. I’ll for ever miss u babe, wish we made the best of our times n wish we had more time. R.I.P Sasha babe xoxo

Sasha and I knew each other for a time in our younger years, and during that time (jr. high and highschool), we were friends.
We lost touch afterwards, as often happens with life getting in the way and all, but I have many memories of and with him.
Sasha meant something to my life, and I’ll miss him.
My condolences to his family and many friends.

Sasha and I knew each other for a time in our younger years, and during that time (jr. high and highschool), we were friends.
He was a smaller fellow, but he was always prepared and ready to play the tough sports, or back up a friend if need be.
He had spit and spirit.
We lost touch after high school, life getting in the way and all, but I have many memories of and with him.
Sasha meant something to my life.
I’ll miss him dearly.
My condolences to his family and many friends.

Value Pack (Sash) and I were like concrete. Simply put, I loved the man. We proudly referred to one another as brothers. Mama knows that. As you all know, You couldn’t ask for a better friend, he was a damn good man. Left me a message not long ago stating (in a Texan accent) lol. I offer you my honour, loyalty, love and respect. Lol Never the correct date of course but, close lol. It Was a birthday call for me. What a gift. Funny and solid he was. A lot of years, a lot of laughs hey brother!? Every day, throughout the day, you and the fam are in my thoughts. “Love ya brother” as we used to say. Can’t wait to tell folks about the “if you were smart, you’d run” story lol. . We could all spend months telling stories I’m sure. And we should in the coming years But, we all must stay strong a plough ahead. Good Bless.
