SEGUIN, Myrtle Eva


It is with profound sadness that the family of Myrtle Eva Seguin announces her passing on August 20, 2020 at the age of 91 years from natural causes. Myrtle is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Joseph, beloved son Ian (Erica), grandchildren Olivia, Talia and Julian; beloved daughter Maureen and devoted sister Irene (Gordon). Myrtle is also survived by stepchildren Lorraine, Daniel (Maureen), Lucille and step grandchildren Nick, Erich, Chad (Melissa) and Emily, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Myrtle is predeceased by her parents, sister Angela, her brother Paul and stepdaughter Denise. Myrtle was born in Vegreville, Alberta on April 27, 1929. At the age of 15 she left home for Edmonton to pursue her high school diploma and attended the University of Alberta where she met her 1st husband, worked on completing her degree in education and started her family. After the end of the marriage, she continued her teaching career where she excelled at teaching music and French. Myrtle’s marriage to Joe brought her many years of great happiness. The pair enjoyed travelling and belonged to many clubs which included square dancing which they both loved. She enjoyed being a hostess to her extended family. Myrtle’s interests included opera, classical music, movies, history and travel. She was delighted to meet her grandchildren who arrived later in her life. Myrtle was a kind and loving soul whose lovely smile will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rutherford Heights for their compassionate care over the last 2 years.
A Catholic Service will be held at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close, NW, on Friday, September 25, 2020. Arrive early as COVID-19 screening protocols will be in place. A small gathering will follow. Contact the family for further details.
