SCHOENINGER, Guenter

The family of Guenter Schoeninger is deeply saddened to announce his passing on March 19, 2022.

Guenter was born on January 14, 1942, in Baden-Wurttemberg Germany to Hermann and Lena Schoeninger. He was trained as a Machinist and in 1975, pursuing a new path, he immigrated to Canada with his wife Marlies and five children. His family and friends all agreed that he was the hardest working man you could ever know.

Later in life, he purchased a property by Alberta Beach, where he spent his last years enjoying the country life with his beloved dog Lucy. He would tinker with tools, quads, motorbikes, and anything else he could find to keep himself amused.

In 2021, Guenter was diagnosed with cancer and spent the last year of his life fighting, with that special kind of stubbornness he always had.

Guenter will be forever remembered by his children, Oliver, Peggy, Jenny (Peter), and Patrick, numerous grandchildren, and relatives in Germany, as well as one great grandson. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Margot Vollmer, and son Marco Schoeninger.

The family would like to thank the friends that reached out to help and support Guenter over the past months, Roy, and Georgina.

A celebration in his honor will be held at his home, on the May long weekend. Details to be announced.
