SAROOP, Leo Clive

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Leo Clive Saroop on January 8, 2022 at the age of 86.

Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wonderful wife, Georgina of 65 years, his son, E. Brian, daughter, Arlene and grand-daughter, Victoria. We would like to thank all of our friends / families in Canada and in Trinidad & Tobago for their comfort, support and prayers.

Leo is predeceased by his mother, Rhoda, his sister, Myrtle and his beautiful grand-daughter, Vanessa.

His university education led him to teaching (B.Ed. & B.A.) for 40 years in Alberta. He was well respected by his peers and students. Dad’s love for his family was unconditional and this is something we will cherish from his character forever. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A special thanks to the ALS Society in Edmonton who held our hands, step by step, through this terrible disease with love, care and support all of the time. (In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS Society of Alberta – memorial section)

Thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital for caring for Dad 24 hours a day with compassion till the very end.

Heartfelt thanks to our earthly “angel” Virginia from Home care (Bayshore) who brought sunshine, love, and positivity into our home while providing care for Dad daily.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, January 14, 2022.

“If we never meet this side of heaven, I will meet you on that beautiful shore…”
We love you Dad.

Our deepest condolence to Doll, Brian, Arlene and Victoria. My memories of Leo go back to the days when he sang in Junior Choir with Doll at Susumachar Presbyterian church. Over the many years of their marriage, our families had a good relationship and his warm hospitality whenever we visited Canada are treasured memories. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. We pray God’s strength and comfort for the family in their time of loss.

A Message from heaven

God came down to earth today,
And said it’s time to go,
I’m sorry I couldn’t stay,
I wanted to, you know.
I’m writing this from heaven,
Looking down upon you,
Please don’t be sad or unhappy,
My time on earth was through.
When tomorrow starts without me,
Keep your head up high,
My body may have left,
But my spirit will never die.
God has big plans for me,
A list of things to do,
Number one on that list,
Is to watch and care for you.
So wherever you may go,
Whenever I’m on your mind,
Just remember you’re never alone,
I’m always by your side.
When your sad and start to cry,
It will relieve some pain,
Remember, there has never been a rainbow,
Unless there was some rain.
When your day is finally over,
And your laying in bed at night,
Ill be right there next to you,
Holding you tight.
When your time on earth is up,
And your soul is finally free,
Don’t be afraid, take gods hand,
He’s bringing you home to me.

Michael Joseph

Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of Uncle Leo. He was a man of faith, a family man and an enterprising man. He was brave to migrate to Canada, run a school, even a Caribbean restaurant and bring well known Calypso artists to perform there. We are thankful mostly for his salvation because we are confident that we will see him again in Eternity. Sending love to Aunty Georgina, Brian, Arlene, Victoria. From Aunty Rasheeda, Helen, Sherie-Ann, Richard and Michael. May God bless you all and give you His grace during this time. May He rest in peace and rise in glory!
