Ruby Mable Kvarnberg

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruby Kvarnberg on Saturday, June 28 at the Leduc Community Hospital at the age of 85 years. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her devoted husband of 64 years, Ernest; 3 daughters and 1 son: Beverley (Ron)Gray, Glen (Maureen), Janet (Gerald)Kercher, Carol (Tony)Schulhof; daughter-in-law Laurel Kvarnberg; 8 grandchildren: Kristina, Laura, Michelle, Jeff, Megan, Tamara, Kayli, Remi; 5 great-grandchildren: Sphere, Jasmine, Lochlan, Cole, Ava; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ruby was born and raised on a farm near Sunnybrook, Alberta and after 2 years at the University of Alberta, she started her teaching career in a one room school near Warburg, Alberta and then at Progress School near Thorsby. It was while teaching at Progress School that she met Ernest and they were married on July 15, 1950. They lived on the home place near Buford until 1990 when they moved into Leduc. Ruby was known for her great cooking and her beautiful flower gardens. She was a very kind and caring woman who devoted her life to her family and will be forever remembered by everyone who knew her.

Honoring Ruby’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Lee and the nursing staff at the Leduc Community Hospital for their care and compassion while Mom was in the hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada (Alberta chapter) at or #104 – 2526 Battleford Ave. S.W. Calgary, Alberta T3E 7J4

George Campbell

I fondly remember dear, devoted Ruby who, with Ernest, joined our choir, the Telford Singers in the early to mid ’90s. They both contributed faithfully to our numerous activities, and Ruby served as President for a couple of years. She was always happy, gentle, sweet and caring without pushing herself at people. Rare, indeed. I’m so happy that Ernest and Ruby had 64 years together. Your memories will be without number, Ernie. And I applaud your demonstrated wisdom in choosing a good wife. They don’t come any better than Ruby — no matter where, or in what century you look. God Bless.
George Campbell.

Sure miss you Mom! You were a remarkable lady … keep smiling, wherever you are! Love Janet
