Roy Francis Hodgson

-

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather Roy, at the age of 86 years.

Roy was a strong, selfless man who volunteered for a wide variety of programs and fundraisers for community and health organizations. He also served with the E.P.S. Block Patrol and Neighborhood Watch Program. He was always pleasant to everyone he met and was admired by many. He loved walking in the river valley, filling bird feeders he made and then placing them in trees along the pathways. He also loved getting out to the cottage he and his wife had at Spring Lake.

We wish to extend special thanks to doctors, nurses and staff at the Misericordia Hospital C.C.U. Dad says he was treated like royalty, during his brief stay.

Roy is survived by his sons: Larry (Susie), and Chris; grandchildren: Lee (Jen), Miranda (Lyle) Yurko and his great grandchildren: Logan, Lucas and Tenley. Roy has left many close friends and relatives to mourn his passing.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen, parents James and Mary Hodgson, sister Nancy; brothers: Jim Tom and Walter.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Killarney Community Hall, 8720 – 130A Avenue, Edmonton.

He will be sadly missed and always remembered…..Until we meet again.

Dear great grandpa Roy you were such an amazing person. I’ll never forget the talks we had or the late nights walks around the cabin, etc. Over this past few years I’ve grown extremely close to you and it broke my heart when I was told the saddening news that you had passed away. I wish I would’ve gotten to say a proper goodbye, one where you can hear my voice and hear me say how much I love and appreciate you. Words cannot describe how affected and how much I miss you. R.I.P great grandpa Roy you were such an amazing person and you will be greatly missed forever. Rest easy you beautiful angel I love you❤
