Ronald Trevor Young

Ron died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 69 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. During his last day he had enjoyed a wonderful summer day in the courtyard garden spent with visiting family, eating his favorite chocolate ice cream.

Predeceased by his parents, Ron is survived by his brother Rick (Fran), sister Heather (Ron), step-sister Bonnie (Brad), step brother Brent (Frances), his Aunt Ella Young, many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great-nephews. Good friend, Irene Feika, also grieves his loss.

Ron was born in Edmonton and remained a proud Albertan all his life. Despite many years of struggles and challenges, Ron was typically gregarious, with a ready wit and a cheerful twinkle in his eye. In mid life he embraced a brave new chapter of positive life changes. Motorcycles, music, and making cherished memories with friends at Pigeon Lake, were his life-long loves.

The family would like to extend our deep appreciation for the tender loving care provided by the compassionate, professional staff and all Ron’s special friends during his three contented years in the Spruce Meadows Wing at St. Joseph’s Hospital. ¬†You were one of a kind, Ron, and you will be widely missed and remembered.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 12603 Ellerslie Road on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm.

Terry (Dick) Sholdice

Ron was one of my best friends, growing up in Sherwood Park. We shared a lot of adventures and got into a few scrapes. We lost touch over the years, but I’ve always thought of him as a good friend and am very sad to hear of his passing. Condolences from my wife, Anita and myself to Ron’s whole family.

Jenny Ivany

I loved my Uncle Ron very much and have so many fond memories of family gatherings. He was the first philosopher I knew and will have long lasting memories of rich conversations on so many interesting topics. I will miss him and feel privileged to have had him as an elder in my family
