In the late hours of March 28, 2020, Ronald Allan Marling, at the age of 72, lost his long battle with ALS. Ron is survived by Laurene, his loving wife of 48 years; his son Mark (Tammy), daughter Marissa (Gerry); grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Kyle, Lucas, Donovan, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Predeceased by his dad, mom and 4 sisters. He is also survived by numerous members of a very large extended family. Ron worked hard as a framer most of his life and lived well surrounded by family and going camping whenever he could. In 2015, Ron was diagnosed with ALS. This slowed him down but it could not stop him right away. He continued to drive out to the camp site in Vilna so he and Laurene could enjoy their trailer as long as possible.
Ron’s life changed dramatically with ALS but he never stopped fighting the disease. Right up till the end he continued to play cribbage with anyone who would join him. He always had his little smile and loved to see his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the ALS Society of Alberta. http://alsab.ca
A celebration of life for Ron will be held when it is safe to do so.
