RODGERS, Robert James (Jim)

1936-2022

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Jim Rodgers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother on the 2nd of March 2022. After courageously battling several health issues over the last few years, he died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He is predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer, and survived by his wife Fran, eldest son Bob, youngest son Scott (Laura), and daughter Joanna (Rick). Grandchildren: Grace (Nick), Sarah (Joe), Emily, Joe (Veronica), Caroline (Jordan), Jacob, Anna, Marie, Natalie, Allyssa (Matt) and Karen. Great-grandchildren: Maximillian, Ambrose, and Atticus.

Jim was born January 27th, 1936, in Elkhorn, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm with two brothers and two sisters; joining the Royal Canadian Air Force as soon as he was of age. Shortly thereafter, while working in Ottawa, he met the love of his life, Fran, whom he married in 1961. He retired from the military in 1985 and continued his work as an Air Frame Technician until his retirement in early 2000. Jim was a member of Knights of Columbus and actively involved in the Catholic Family Ministries (CFM), taking great pride in the work he did. Most especially for the CFM Family Life Conference.

Jim will be remembered for his gruff nature, hatred of cameras, fondness of cashews and most especially for the love he shared with his wife and family. He will be greatly missed.

Service will be held on Saturday the 2nd of April at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 12810-111 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB, T5M 2N7.
