Just thinking yesterday of a hot peaceful Sunday late afternoon in July; we were operations at CA2 when a power outage occurred; bit of pandemonium; some equipment still running ; most not; emergency generator running; no power to the buss; a call to Gary at home; the relief was very real when a smiling Gary came striding down the hall ready to straighten it out! Really great guy; terrific electrician; condolences to Sharon (who was also a coworker) and family

I’m so sad to learn of Garry’s passing…because he was always a bright light at work. I don’t know where he got his energy from but if you walked into a room where Garry was it was like someone turned on a light. He was always animated and colorful and loud made me smile and laugh. It would be nice if a little bit of his energy made its way into each one of us.
Good by Garry. You will be very much missed.

I was shocked and very sad to hear Garry had passed away. He and I became working partners at CA2, he was one of the best work partners a guy could get. We shared a lot of challenges and common interests . One time we froze our butts off trying to thaw a frozen caustic line, we checked everything and the tension was building at the plant as there was nowhere to store the caustic so we decided to check part of the pipe that we weren’t responsible for and found it wasn’t heated with glycol heat, there were a lot of red faces as we were told the pipe was checked, but it was the wrong pipe.

He always had your back and was willing to try something different but didn’t hold back if he knew better. We had a lot of fun working together, one thing we did was to out smart our supervisor and go into town for lunch on Fridays, actually we weren’t supposed to but it was tolerated as long as it wasn’t widely advertised. So we’d sneak out the back so Geo wouldn’t know, it was a cat and mouse game and a lot of laughs.

Sharon you must have heard a lot of these stories from Garry and I hope you can find comfort in remembering and I hope you knew how much Garry was appreciated by me, other coworkers, and all the staff at CA2.

My deepest condolences to Garry’s family. I worked at Dow with Garry at CAII for over 10 years. Whenever I think of Garry, it brings a smile to my face. We had lots in common…both from Saskatchewan, both cheering for the Riders and Canadiens. As well, many games of hearts during coffee breaks at Dow. He was a great mentor for a young 18 year old starting his career.
Rest in Peace, Garry…….and although I’m sad today, I’ll still have lots of smiles in the future when I think of you.
