Robert “Bob” Eade Hetherington

Rev. Bob Hetherington died on May 24, having made 71 “circles ’round the sun”.
Bob grew up in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, youngest son of George and Evelyn; attended Victoria and Emmanuel Colleges, University of Toronto; and Andover-Newton College, Boston. He moved west in 1967.
Bob enjoyed life to the fullest in family relationships and as minister, singer, traveller and friend.
During his 36 year ministry in Alberta, Bob served the United Church Pastoral Charges of Telfordville, Bentley/Blackfalds, Leduc, Grande Prairie, Lacombe and Southminster-Steinhauer in Edmonton. His passion was congregational life.
With a rich tenor voice, Bob sang his way through life; in choirs, solos and musical theatre.
His family of wife Margaret; sons: Mark (Nicole) and Jonathan (Melissa); granddaughters: Sara and Jake, and grandson Tyler; brother Murray (Ruth); sister Jessie (Edgar); brother-in-law Bob Thompson (Winn), extended family and friends will live out Bob’s legacy of compassion, song, justice-making, humour, and fascination with the Great Story of our evolving universe.
Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 pm, Tuesday evening, June 2, 2015 at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church, 10740-19 Ave, Edmonton T6J 6W9. Celebrant: Rev. Dr. Nancy Steeves. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Southminster-Steinhauer United Church Memorial Fund or Doctors Without Borders.
