Born December 8, 1931 in Vancouver BC to William and Helen (nee Gaugh). Bob was the older brother to Joan. During his early years, Bob developed a love for the outdoors and for adventure. These two loves led to service in the RCAF in Winnipeg where he met Shirley (nee Smithson) whom he married in 1955. Upon leaving the RCAF, Bob continued his career in aviation with the Federal Department of Transport then as a pilot, manager, and owner of aircraft charter and maintenance companies in Alberta, B.C., and NWT. In retirement, Bob and Shirley continued to travel and Bob was active in the Acacia Masonic Lodge, dabbled in Amateur Radio operation (VE6NNN) and spent many hours in his greenhouse and garden. Bob died peacefully during the late afternoon of July 22, 2018.
Bob was preceded in death by Shirley (October 31, 2013) and is survived by his children: Deanna (Frank), Rob, and Scott (Lorie) along with his grandchildren: Rachel, Samantha, Joshua, Christopher, and Hannah.
At Bob’s request, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Alberta Aviation Museum, 11410 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 0X4.
