Born August 12, 1927
Went to be with her Lord and Saviour November 7, 2020
In the early morning of November 7th, with her daughter Lana by her side, our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend left to reunite with her husband and love, Arthur George Ries. They were married just short of 55 years before he passed in 2011, and we are sure the reunion was nothing short of spectacular. There are many others who would also be there to welcome her with open arms especially her parents and 6 brothers.
For those of us left on this earth who will miss her more than any words can express are her children Randy, Lana (Brian), and Brenda; grandchildren Amie (Brian), Curtis (Kayla), Mallorie, Nicholas, Tyler (Sam), Janie, and Cody; and great grandchildren Theo, Stevie, and Tess. She is also survived by extended family and friends. Mom gave all of us beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
Mom was kind, loving, funny, gracious, and beautiful inside and out. In March of 2015, she had a stroke and massive brain bleed. We were told she would not survive, but Mom was not ready to leave her family. She gave us 5½ more years and taught us what true strength is.
We would like to take this moment to thank the staff at Lynnwood Capital Care for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank Jane who was Mom’s companion when her children couldn’t be there. And lastly, we would like to thank Mom’s great friend Joyce who visited mom regularly and brought Mom’s faith to her through communion, hymns, and scripture. Mom has left this earth, but she has left behind so many who will remember the joy she brought into their lives. We love you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma and thank you for being the best part of our lives. We look forward to everyone coming together to celebrate and remember her life, hopefully summer of next year. We will let you know the date and time once Covid is no longer a fear. If Thelma’s children do not have your contact info, please send it to [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hosanna Lutheran Church (9009 163 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5R 2N8), any organization that deals with research of strokes or dementia, or any charity of your choice would be appreciated.
