RICHARDS, Iain Robert

It is with a deep sense of sorrow and loss that our family announces the sudden passing of our beautiful boy, Iain Robert Richards in June 2021 at the age of 20.

He will be sadly missed by his parents Anne and Maury Richards, his older brother Erik (Frances) and his younger brother Sami. He is survived by his grandmothers Peggy Dodson (Ron), Carole Olafson (Keith) and grandfathers Bruce Morrison (Joyce) and Don Richards (Esone). He is lovingly remembered by his Auntie Nairn Dreilich (Troy, Kaine, Mag) and Uncle Rob Morrison (Jackie, Jordan, Abby).

During his short life Iain enjoyed travelling with his family to beaches, mountains and forests.  He loved outdoor activities like downhill skiing and paddling on rivers and oceans.  He was passionate about music, books and movies – devouring them with a desire to understand how they were all connected together.  He spent happy times with his friends and brothers playing games both on the tabletop and online.

Iain loved his brothers with all his heart – in lieu of flowers please consider donations to the following charities which support their health:
Diabetes Research Institute Foundation Canada (DRIFCan)
Stollery Children’s Hospital

I’m so sorry to learn of this. Iain was a really great guy, never failed to make me laugh. He and I had a lot of fun times together in the short time we had class together and knew each other – we called him Captain Canoodle because he made out with his girlfriend up against everyone’s lockers for a while 🙂 when he left for Ainlay, we all noticed and it just wasn’t the same anymore, and it certainly won’t be the same now without him anywhere around. He provided positive energy into any room he was in, no matter his mood.

To the Richards family, if there’s anything I can do at all, please let me know. So sorry to hear of this horrific incident.

Dearest Richards’ family, please accept my deepest condolences. I am at a loss for words, but am sending you the biggest, warmest hug and wishes for peace.

Much love,

Eddie and Michael

To the Richards Family and their dearest friends:

We were shocked to hear the news of the loss of Iain. Iain and me (Eddie) shared a lot of memories over Elementary and Jr. High. I fondly remember bike rides and hanging out outside together, he was an amazing friend and introduced me to a ton of amazing people. Without Iain, my life would be a lot different and I’m happy to have known him. To me, Michael, I have had many fond memories of Iain in Highschool. Whether it was hanging out at Southgate or randomly talking to each other at the transit station he always made me and Hogan smile. He was both able to be a hilarious friend and a serious one when the need arose. I’ll deeply miss him and am devastated to hear about his passing.

Our deepest condolences go out to you and we will donate to the Stollery as a way to show our respects to the Richards family.

We are so grateful to have known Iain and are grateful to have memories of him.

Iain was a shy and quiet but hard working young man who was always willing to help out other team members or wherever was needed.

His tenure at find was short but impactful and he personally positively affected the lives of many people while conducting his duties each and every day.

Our team at find is sadden by this news and send our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

We have decided to donate to the Stollery in his honor and in respects to his family’s wishes.
