Richard Andrew Piebiak

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Andrew Piebiak announce his passing on the evening of April 26 after a year long battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Rick was raised on his family farm in Eaglesham, AB leaving for the University of Calgary where he completed his Physical Education Degree. He returned to the Peace Country to teach in Valleyview and continue farming in Eaglesham. He was a pillar of Valleyview’s Hillside High School community for over 30 years as a teacher and coach.

Rick is survived by his wife Anita (nee Smid), daughters, Krista (Jeff) and Jill, two grandsons, Rory and Keir, and large extended family. He is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Josephine, siblings, Lillian, Stanley and Robert, and infant daughter Jenna.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Nisku Recreation Centre at 2pm. Address: 606-18 Ave, Nisku, AB.

Many thanks to Dr. Amigo, his team, and the wonderful, caring nurses at the Grey Nuns Hospital Tertiary Palliative Care Unit.

In lieu of flowers or donations Rick’s wish was that you spend that time and money on your family and loved ones — take them for dinner, enjoy their company, because life is short.
