REID, Loretta Angela

It is with great love and profound sadness that the family of Loretta Reid announce her passing on December 31st, 2021 at the age of 86.

Lovingly remembered by her children: David (Inga), James (Michele), Craig (Sharon), grandchildren: Ryan (Tory), Samantha (Zach), Jared and Michael, sister Doris, Rose and Josephine (Raymond).

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and granddaughter Elizabeth.

Loretta was a resident of Fort Saskatchewan for over 60 years and was well known in the community for her participation in sports and culture. She had a passion for tennis. She was a member of Fort Tennis Club and served in many positions including president. She was the ladies singles champion for fourteen consecutive years and frequent ladies doubles and mixed doubles champion.

Loretta’s careers included working as Assistant Director, Town of Fort Saskatchewan Recreation Department and Manager, Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. She was on the committee that organized activities for the town visit by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, and was also the recipient of the “Star of the Century” award in the town’s centennial celebrations. A member of the St. George’s Anglican Church Women’s group, she served as secretary for fourteen consecutive years.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her sons strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A private burial will take place. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Capital Care Strathcona Laurier House who cared for Loretta during her time there. Their expertise, compassion and warmth was truly appreciated by the family.

Memorial donations in Loretta’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Loretta left such a wonderful legacy in Fort Saskatchewan and my family and I will remember all her good work, kindness and great ideas. Heaven will be perfect now with her incredible organization skills.

We were sorry to learn of your mom’s passing. She was a nice, kind and caring lady with a special love for her family. We enjoyed meal conversations and attendance with her at various events while she resided at Laurier House Strathcona. She will be missed.
