REES, Emily Michelle

With deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our beloved daughter Emily Rees on June 24, 2021 at the age of 22.

Her memory will be cherished by her mother Dawn (Stan), siblings Morgan, Landon, Carter and Grayson, her Aunt Krista (Jason, Neil & Leland), her Uncle Robbie, Nana Rees, Oma & Opa, Stella Ella and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her Dad/Pop Robin.

Emily was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland where her love of the ocean began and where the importance of family started. Over the years Emily has lived in both Newfoundland and Alberta with the exception of the year she spent in Kelowna where she attended UBC, it was the importance of family that brought her back to Alberta to be closer to the ones she loved. She loved to read murder mysteries including novels by James Patterson and novels by John Green. In the last year of her life, she taught herself to crochet and loved making stuff for others, she also began drawing on her iPad . She also dreamed of becoming an aesthetician and was working towards pursuing that dream before her illness returned, Emily loved a good set of nails and a pedi and was not too shy to point out if someone had done a poor job. Emily also had a love for baking, whether it was cookies, banana bread or keto carrot cake for her ma.

Emily will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humour, kindness and unconditional love, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life for Emily will be held on the 21st of August, 2021 on what would have been her 23rd birthday, location to be determined and announced at a later date.
