In the late evening of May 1, 2019, Randy passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will always be missed by the love of his life, wife Connie and their children Kimberly and Steven.
Randy was predeceased by his mother Wanda Ceretzke, his mother-in-law Gladys Johnson and is survived by his father Arthur Ceretzke, brother Rod Ceretzke, two sisters Marilyn Dyck and Donna Hoffmann, and sister-in-law Glenda Dennis.
The most important things in Randy’s life were his Lord, his family, his students, and his friends. He was a very hardworking, dedicated teacher who genuinely loved his students and always took a special interest in each one. Throughout his 35 years with Elk Island Public Schools, he was a teacher at Salisbury Composite High School, Sherwood Heights Junior High School, and Bev Facey Community High School. He taught a variety of subjects including math, physical education, social studies, legal studies, horticulture, and communication technology. He held the most special affection for his junior high basketball teams and modelled values of respect, class, and integrity for them. His selflessness to support other school staff in an unassuming manner was a priority for him too. He always arrived to school early each day and displayed a pleasant and polite approach to any need they might have.
Even in his final years as he struggled with early onset dementia, he was consistently kind, peaceful, and displayed his true character with a smile for everybody. Randy will be deeply missed by all those whose paths he crossed but we know he is rejoicing in Heaven with a new body and a new mind
The funeral service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Committal service will take place prior at Glenwood Gardens at 1:00 pm.
