Phenetta Mary Cholowski


Penny was born January 7, 1925 in Edmonton, Alberta, and passed away peacefully March 16, 2016 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, at the age of 91 years surrounded by loving family.
Throughout Penny’s life, she was active in many associations such as WREN’s (Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service), the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Auxillary, ACW (Anglican Church Women), and the Eastern Star.
While she was working for the City of Edmonton in the Parks and Recreation department, she met her first husband, David Rolland Young, and they were married in September 1950. They had 4 beautiful children, and Penny became a full-time mother. Eventually she began working at Sherritt Gordon Mines as a Dispatch Operator. It was here she met her second husband, Stephen Cholowski, and they were married in April 1976.
Penny will be lovingly remembered by her children; Deborah (Gord) Black, David Young, Donna (Shayne) Jessop, and Diana (Ken) Hunter; her step-children, Dick (Sheila) Cholowski, Tim (Laura) Cholowski, Wendy (Steve) Gregory, and (Judi) Cholowski; 21 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by husbands, Ron (D.R.) Young and Steve Cholowski; her daughter-in-law Marilyn Young; step-children Chick (Gerry) Cholowski and Cheryl Cholowski.
