PETER, Verna Ruth

Verna Ruth Peter (1932-2022)

It is with heavy hearts and much love that we announce that on June 22, 2022 at the age of ninety, surrounded by her family, Verna went to be with her Lord and Saviour.

She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Sherry (Herb) Guhl and Trevor (Rhonda) Peter, her grandchildren Brendan (Marjorie), Elise (Bryan), Gabriella and Natalie, as well as her great grandson Ronan. Verna is survived by two younger sisters, Artrude Doell and Gerry (Don) Smailes, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Verna was pre-deceased by her husband Al (2010) as well as her older brothers Erwin and Reuben, older sisters Viola and Ardice, and younger sister Lillian. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by numerous friends, neighbours and relatives. Verna’s generous heart, witty sense of humour, dedication to the study of God’s Word, boundless energy, ping pong prowess, musical talents and piano playing, sewing skills, love of flowers and gardening, and friendly hospitality are just some of the things she will be remembered for.

A cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday June 29 at 11 a.m. at Greenfield Community Church (3712-114 Street NW), in Edmonton, with Pastor Tyler Williams officiating. To view the service live or at a later date, go to https://greenfieldchurch.ca/vpeter

So sorry that dear Verna is no longer with us but I know she is in a much better place and probably visiting with my husband for whose funeral she played the piano just 5 months ago. She certainly blessed many people with her musical talents and just her pleasant personality. She will be greatly missed.

It’s never easy loosing a loved one especially a parent and grandmother who played such a big part in all your lives. Your mom was a pleasure getting to know and we enjoyed our times chatting with her. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Praying for Gods peace that passes all understanding for each of you in her family.

As my next door neighbour, Verna was a daily part of my life. Hardly a day went by without talking to or seeing her. She has helped fill the void left in my life by the death of my husband. She was a committed, helpful soul, so positive and never short with praise. She ;had her own many accomplishments.
I had not realized what a great role she had played in my life, let alone in others.
We will all miss her dearly.
