Peter Mazurkewich passed away in Edmonton at the age of 84 years of cardiac failure.
He is survived by his children: son Richard, (wife Kari, daughters Terese, Perri, Quinn and Tate) of Calgary; daughter Darlene, (son Kevin, partner Bob) of St.Albert; son Edward, (wife Lorene, sons Curtis and Joel) of Red Deer and son Garry of London, England, as well as ex-wife, Gloria (nee Towpich) of Grande Prairie and brother Steve of Eaglesham.
Peter was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba and moved with his parents to homestead in the Codesa area in 1930. He resided on the original homestead until selling the farm in 1995, subsequently moving to Grande Prairie, then eventually to Edmonton. His interests included avidly following the sports scene (hockey and baseball) in the Peace Country, with local athletes and his children, and later on with his grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud of.
Peter was pre-deceased by father John (1892-1960), mother Dora (1897-1986), step-brother Walter (1918-1983) and brother Tony (1934-2010).
Funeral services were held by Serenity Funeral Services February 1, 2014 in Edmonton, with subsequent cremation. A memorial may be held at a later time in Eaglesham, Alberta.
