It is with great sadness and shock to hear of George’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. I was fortunate to work with George (AKA Lil’ Brother) at the old #5, along with Jim Hudson, Doug Hamilton,Reg Ruhmor and Ernie Mock. George was our leader, mentor and friend. Always enjoyed his mischievous giggle and appreciated his guidance. I feel fortunate to have known him. Miss ya George!! You have touched many lives.

On behalf of the Edmonton FireFighters Memorial Society, please accept our condolences on George’s passing.
Please know that he will be missed greatly. Although I have never had the pleasure in working with George, talking to several members and retirees who did he was a very well respected member of our department.
We want to give your family time to grieve your loss but if you could please mark Friday September 11th 2020 on your calendar, as that will be the day of our Annual Remembrance Ceremony.
It will be the day that we remember all those members that we have lost in the past year.
It gives us all a chance to say goodbye and it helps with the closure as well.

If I could have a family member to contact me at 780-619-1564 or at [email protected] then I can get back to them and we can talk about arrangements for this year’s ceremony.

In closing, please accept our deepest condolences on your loss and know that George will be missed.

George will live on in all of our great memories of the moments in his life we have shared together. God’s peace, love and strength to all.
I have added a photo of our crew from “old” station 4 on 142 street. I was first stationed there when I graduated from training where George sought me out of the recruits and welcomed me as their “new rookie”….

Loving thoughts to Marian and family. Met George when we bought property at the lake…he and Marian were welcoming, helpful and such good friends. We will certainly miss seeing him about the village, looking after ‘things’ and passing by with a cheery wave.

George, our Little Brother, our Captain, our Mentor, Our Friend. I worked at # 5 with Doug Hamilton (Hammy), Brian Williams (Willie). Whenever we talk about the good times on the job. This time with George always comes up. So Much fun. We had so much respect for him. He taught us so much. I don’t know how he tolerated us though. We had some good Captains through the years. They were the ones that helped us become competent firefighters. George, it was an Honour to have worked with you. We are so sorry Marion.
