Oh Cheryl, Jenny & Aly, Kaite and Alex,
Where has all the time gone……we were always together in Devon….Every Friday for many years, we got together to watch Dallas and Miami Vice, then played 500 into the late hours…The move may have changed our weekly habits, but, when we got together, it was like we never left. You both raised four beautiful, smart and caring children…….Victor was truly blessed to of been a part of their weddings and was able to see his grandchildren…….we laughed, we cried and we shared many memories that we will cherish forever. There will always be a special place in the Zaharko hearts for the Pawluk Family…….we LOVE all of you …..may there always be “Islands in the Stream”!

It is with such a heavy heart that we send this message of condolence to Cheryl and her family. Victor always had a welcoming smile, hearty handshake and a ready joke or story. Many fond memories of evenings with friends, year end concerts, road trips, competitions and and family socials with Zirka, a wonderful boss (twice) and a good friend. Victor loved Cheryl, was so proud of their children and his eyes always lit up when he talked about his grandchildren. Rest in peace Victor – you fought the good fight and will be missed and fondly remembered.

Cheryl & Family,
We were so privileged to get to know your family through Zirka . Although we were not that close to your family, we still always felt that we could have conversations with you all whenever we met. We had a great admiration for Victor when he so many times got up on the stage and so fluently spoke in Ukrainian to all the guests. Our hearts go out to you all. The Nicolichuk Family

I know Vic had many friends and was gifted with the ability to make them all feel like his best friend. The friendship and love my wife Cathy and I had with Vic and Cheryl was beyond describable with multiple visits weekly and the years of vacations we spent together from, camping in our back yard to Las Vegas, Mexico, Arizona, South Dakota, Buck Lake and everywhere in between. I wish to all our children that they find a true God fearing relationship with another couple as we have enjoyed together for over thirty years.
Roughly ten years ago when Vic was diagnosed with a fatal disease and given 8 to 12 months to live, ours lives changed, and I told him I was not going bawl every time I look at him when we get together, that I was going to enjoy every minute God gave us to spend together.
Even after being told by his Doctors that there was nothing they can do for him, to go home and put your affairs in order, Cheryl refused to give up, and because of her strong love for her husband, she refused to accept it.
With Cheryl’s intelligence, determination and drive, Vic’s brutal strength and ever growing love for Cheryl, his Children and Grandchildren, and all of his family’s and friend’s prayers… God gave all of us Victor, his sense of humour, personality, generosity and magnetism for another almost nine years, for that I will be forever Thankful!
I am not sure a friendship between two men can be any stronger, you are and will be forever missed. I pray to, as you said in some of your final words to me, “See You On The Other Side” … I can’t wait!

Your Forever Friend
Phil

For well over 40 years I had the honour of initially knowing Victor as a business associate that turned into a strong friendship that survived career changes, distances and health issues, sharing many laughs, tears and stories of his kids and grandkids and in good times and bad . One thing never changed and that was when Victor was your friend it meant something and it was everlasting . Marlene and I prayed he would not suffer and while we will all miss him dearly, his journey is over and he is at peace. Cheryl and family we hope all the good times and memories of a great husband and father will comfort you on your road ahead. Sincerely Doug and Marlene

I knew Vic through work and he was one of the best man managers I have ever known. It was an absolute pleasure to work with him and I only wish it lasted longer. I found him to be a very clear thinker who was extremely brave when faced with adversity. I know he was devoted to Cheryl and his kids and I am glad that he got some time to spend with them. The news has been a total shock to me and I write this with a tear in my eye. My sincerest condolences to Cheryl and his family.
