Devon, AB – Long time resident of Devon, AB, Patricia Annette Montgomery (nee Baker) passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the early morning hours at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Born on the last day of 1934, in Spirit River, AB, Patricia received an Honours high school diploma in 1951. She then went on to receive a Bachelors of Science from the Nottingham University in England, honours in Math and Chemistry; a Masters Science degree from McMasters University in Ontario specializing in Computer Maths; and finally a Bachelors of Education from the University of Alberta.
She worked in Ontario as a computer programmer for Dow chemical in Ontario, in a sort of quality control capacity. She did not like being so far from all her family and friends so she returned to the Edmonton area in the late ‘50s. There she met Philip Montgomery and the two were married on July 28, 1961. While mom did continue to work for a while, after 3 small children she became a full time home-maker.
She is survived by her children, James, Chandra, and Ian; her two sisters Kathleen and Alexandra, and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Her funeral will be held at the River of Hope Baptist Church in Devon, AB at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 19.
