Norma Fay Fischer


With sadness, the family of Norma Fay Fischer (Young) announce her passing on August 11, 2015 at the age of 75 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children and their families – Bradley; Barry and Tracey (Kurtis, Kraig and Nicole); Shelley and Stewart Knapp; Jeffrey (Zachary and Danae); and Michael and Karen (Katelyn, Cole and Callum).
She is survived by her brother, Gerald, and sisters Anita and Denise, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with the extended Fischer family. She was predeceased by her husband and our father, Robert (Bob) Fischer, on August 11, 2013, after 54 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by granddaughters Kyla and Darby; her parents; and her brothers Keith, Dawson and Errol.
Norma was born January 29, 1940 in Outlook, Saskatchewan to Murray and Evangeline (Elliott) Young.
Mom was an accomplished pianist and bridge player, with varied interests including sewing and crafts, bingo, bowling, gardening, and volunteering for local causes. She took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends, particularly her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Church in Fort Saskatchewan, 10409 – 100 Avenue, with an inurnment at Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church basement following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the First United Church in Fort Saskatchewan would greatly be appreciated.
Special thanks to family and friends, nurses and staff at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, the Home Care Team, and Leslie Kiist from Home Support, for the care and support given Mom over the last two years. Gord and Cindy Kadatz managing directors.
