It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doris “Jean” Newsted at St Mary’s Hospital, Camrose at the age of 86 years.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband Norman of 29 years, and children: Marilyn (Ken), Carolyn (Wayne), Ed (Yvonne), Laura (Scot), Rob (Lori Anne), 11 grandchildren and 3 great grand-children as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Jean was predeceased by parents Arthur and Laura, two husbands Mervin, and Bob, and her 5 brothers, Archie, Willard, Walt, Jim and George Philips most who resided in the community of her youth, Arbutus district in the Rocky Mountain House area.
A woman of many talents she instilled a strong work ethic to all her kids and grandkids. Family gatherings were her joy to organize and provide copious quantities of foods. She took pride especially in her retirement years in her flower and vegetable gardens, quilts and gopher hunting on the farm at New Norway. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She requested no Service, there will be an internment of her urn at Rocky Mountain House at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
