On April 15, 2014, Nelson William Rust went Home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 80 years. He passed away peacefully at the Norwood Palliative Care.
His memory will be cherished by Velma, his beloved wife of 57 years; his six children: Dave (Caroline), Dan, Caroline, Rob (Fiona), Rick (Kendra) and Cathy (Yisa); grandchildren: Shantelle, Michael (Kayla), Ryan, Alana, Rebecca, Hannah, Abby and great-grandson, Mason. He also leaves to mourn his passing his brothers: Len (Emily), Rieny (Audrey), Ray (Helene), Marvin (Lorraine); sister Myrtle (Ivan) and many nieces and nephews.
Rusty was born near Maple Creek, SK and grew up on a farm near Waseca, SK. He married Velma on April 20, 1957, and they made their home in Edmonton. Rusty was an Edmonton Firefighter for 31 years, retiring in 1989.
Rusty found great joy over the years spending time at the farm near Camrose, driving in the country and working in the beautiful flower garden he designed each year in the back yard. He was also very fond of watching sports on T.V. – hockey, football and baseball. He was an active member of Beulah Alliance Church for 59 years and loved making people feel welcome and serving the Lord wherever he was needed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Beulah Alliance Church, 17504-98A Avenue, Edmonton.
