Murv was born in Winkler, Manitoba on February 15, 1946. He met and married Carol in Calgary in 1968 and they were blessed with two children, Coralee and Cameron. The family lived in Calgary while Murv completed his training as a Sheet Metal Mechanic at SAIT. They moved to Edmonton and Murv started his own Heating and Air Conditioning Company. Murv and Carol eventually settled in Leduc and enjoyed the smaller town atmosphere for many years. Murv enjoyed fishing and camping with children and grandchildren. He embraced the life of being a sheet metal mechanic. God blessed him with this gifting and he expressed his faith through his work. Murv enjoyed showing people he cared and was concerned that customers got the best advice and product possible. He always said that he would do the type of job that he would expect in his own home. Murv left a legacy of strength, understanding and unconditional love.
On Sunday, March 1, 2020, Murv passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the age of 74. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 51 years, Carol, his two children Coralee (Kelly) Mercer, and Cameron (Kari) Wiens, his eight grandchildren: Jordan Mercer, Aaron Mercer, Dallas Mercer, Megan Mercer, Jared Mercer, Matt (Jessie) Maw, Kyle Wiens, Coby Wiens, and one great granddaughter Norah Maw. He is survived by two brothers, Art (Myrna) Wiens and Rick (Janet) Wiens, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Murv was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary Wiens.
The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude for all the prayers, words of encouragement, and expressions of sympathy we have received.
