Mrs. Georgette Marie Claire Towne

-

On the evening Friday, January 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, Georgette Towne passed away at Drayton Valley Continuing Care at the age of 93 years. Born in Ottawa, Georgie became a dedicated Westerner when she and new husband, Ernie Towne took up residence in Edmonton in 1943. Although they raised their family in many other places across Canada, they returned to Alberta in 1960. Over the years, Georgie was active in the Edmonton Lady Lions and CAVU Club and managed the fabric department of Woodward’s Southgate in Edmonton for nearly 20 years. Georgie had the soul of an artist. Her talents ranged from seamstress to oil painting with nearly every type of craft imaginable in between. Georgette is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Roy (Deborah) of Victoria; Gordon of Nanaimo, and Helen of Drayton Valley, as well as six grand children and three great-grandchildren. Georgie was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, as well as by her mother, father and brother. The Towne family wishes to offer their most profound thanks to Dr. Gossman and the caring staff at Continuing Care in Drayton Valley. In honour of Georgie, a Memorial Service will be held at Serenity Funeral Service, 5137 – 50 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Emma Vickery officiating. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Drayton Valley Health Services Foundation – Long Term Care
