Doris Evelyn Johnson


On Friday, July 6, 2018, Doris Evelyn Johnson, long-time resident of Mayerthorpe Extendicare, formerly of Whitecourt, passed away at the age of 88 years.

Doris was born at Wetaskiwin to parents, Ivor and Gerda Berger and was the only girl out of six children. On September 9, 1954 she was married to Arno Johnson in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. When Arno began work at Millar Western Ranch, Doris was there to provide the men with wonderful, home-cooked meals. She loved the farm, she loved to garden, but her greatest love was that of her family.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Larry of Wildwood, Ralph (Barb) of Mayerthorpe and Dennis (Shauna) of Mayerthorpe; grandchildren, Brandy Lynn (Clint) Rose, Jarrett Laramie Johnson, Baylee Johnson, Tulsa Johnson and Jordan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Carlen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and life-long friends.

Doris was predeceased by her loving husband, Arno; parents, and siblings, Gordon, Roy, Morley, Harold and Edward Berger.

The Johnson family wishes to extend a “Special Thank-You” to the Doctors and all staff at Mayerthorpe Extendicare for the many years of care and compassion shown to Doris.

Funeral Services will be held at Whitecourt Family Worship Centre, 4220 Elko Drive, Whitecourt, Alberta on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dallas Bidell officiating. Interment will follow at Mayerthorpe Cemetery, Mayerthorpe, Alberta.
