Moira passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in Edmonton.
Moira was predeceased by her husband, Chandra. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Fahlman of Regina and her son Neil (Debi) of Edmonton as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Moira is also survived by her sister, Laura Mallick, of Grand Prairie, Alberta, as well as numerous nephews and nieces, and friends.
Moira was born and raised in Brookfield, Scotland. She met Chandra in Glasgow where they were both college students. She and Chandra married after graduation and moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where Moira taught domestic science at a girl’s secondary school. Moira and her family emigrated to Canada in 1965, making their home in Regina. Moira taught home economics at Balfour Collegiate until her retirement, and volunteered with ESL students. Moira and Chandra travelled widely overseas and across Canada and the US, and settled in Edmonton in 1992.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre in Edmonton for the care given to Moira during the last months of her life.
The family will hold a private gathering to remember Moira.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Moiras memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
