Michael John Varley

Michael was born September 15, 1949 in Summerstown, Ontario to his parents Robert Varley and Theresa (Carriere) Varley and passed away at Sherwood Park on May 25, 2018 at the age of 68 years.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol Varley (Thibeault), children: Michael Varley and Laurie (Sawka) Varley, grandchildren: Blaine Varley and Shawnna (Sullivan), Brenden Varley, Alannah Varley. brothers: Robert (Darleen) Varley, Thomas (Cindy) and Tyler Varley, sister: Jocelyn (Archie) Macdonald, many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at the Josephburg Community Church, Josephburg, Alberta, Burial to follow in the Josephburg Community Cemetery.

Carol’s love of bears was certainly reflected in her choice of partners. Mike sometimes tried to pass himself off as a grizly bear but he was really the biggest teddy bear you would ever meet. He was, at times, a father figure to me but more importantly, was always a great friend. He has helped me in so many ways and his passing leaves a big hole in my heart. I will miss his smile and laughter but most of all, those big bear hugs,
